WHY THIS PROGRAM?
No one will argue that we are living in uncertain times. The world doesn’t just feel out of balance, it IS out of balance. As a helping professional you have already been called to uplift your community. In these times of unrest and uncertainty that task can feel overwhelming OR maybe you want to do more OR maybe you need to discover ways to support your self. Regardless of where you’re at, knowing where to start may leave you feeling paralyzed.
Stress is at an all time high, so many people are feeling angry, anxious and depressed. Social justice is essential. We know intuitively that yoga can help but where to begin? How can we be of best service? In this program we will look at the bridge between yoga philosophy and modern perspectives on mental health. We will explore the basics of asana, pranayama, meditation and we will consider Yoga’s deeper teachings as a path to heal the human collective. These teachings are offered in a non dogmatic way, through the lense of yoga and social justice.
You will get practical hands on experience teaching and observing best practices in order to fully integrate the teachings.
Teach better and better serve clients, talk to students about mental health, work with under-serviced communities (seva, karma yoga).
Every teacher who believes yoga is MORE than exercise should have this knowledge.
If you’ve had enough of recorded content, asking questions through chat, and trainings with overwhelming group sizes that don’t facilitate conversation then this is what you’ve been looking for. Keeping inline with the best practices for trauma informed care we will gather in a small group of a maximum of 12 students. In this intimate and supportive community you get your questions answered in real time, have time to reflect and discover new perspectives by listening and interacting with your peers. This is what trauma informed care requires. Taking care of yourself is what is needed for mental health care. This journey will support you as you navigate new learnings and integrate it into your work.

WHY STUDY WITH KATLIN ROBINSON
I am one of only three certified yoga therapists in London and fewer than 10 in Southwestern Ontario. I have more than 1200 hours of training, over half of which is in mental health (including grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and addiction).
I have been practicing yoga and mindfulness for more than 20 years. I have worked one-on-one with clients with mental health concerns ranging from victims of sexual assault, pregnancy and infant loss, childhood maltreatment, adult children of alcoholics, first responders with PTSD and more. I have delivered workshops and group class series for anxiety and trauma for 8-years. I have been offering continuing education programs for yoga teachers since 2017.
I am committed to cultivating a collective of yoga teachers who can teach in a trauma informed way and are able to support their community’s mental wellness, while caring for themselves in order to avoid secondary trauma. My goal is to make better yoga teachers so that this beautiful tool - yoga - can serve our community in the most meaningful way.
I offer mentorships and training for mental health professionals, and professional organizations, supporting them to integrate yoga practices into their client session.
Currently my work is being integrated into Emotion Focused Therapy for Complex Trauma (EFTT) (adults with histories of childhood maltreatment) - Paivio, Robinson, Pascual-Leone, in press; Yoga therapy as a complement to EFTT: Integrating body-based interventions, in S. Paivio & A. Pascual-Leone, Emotion-focused therapy for complex trauma (2nd ed.) New York: American Psychological Association.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
+ What if I can't attend all of the training weekend?
You should do what you can to attend all sessions live. However, I know that life happens. If you can't attend live you will be able to access a recording of the class for a limited time. If you miss a praticum you will submit the praticum exercise in writing or provide a recording to be reviewed.
+ I don't have a 200hour yoga teacher training. Can I still participate?
You can take this training for personal interest but this training will not qualify you to teach yoga to others. Know that some of the concepts require more than a basic knoweldge of yoga. If you are new to yoga this may not be right for you. Please get in touch or fill in an application and let me know your circumstance.
+ I have a history of trauma and/or a mental health disorder (anxiety, trauma, bipolar, borderline). Will this training support my own healing?
The reality is that most people have some history of trauma and/or mental health disorder. I recognize that many of us come to yoga to support for our own healing. I hope that what you learn in this program will bring greater awareness and support you on your journey. However, this training is intended as a teacher training. There will not be time for group sharing and I ask that you limit sharing your personal experience to the topics being discussed. There will not be time to answer personal questions or provide advise in the classes. You will have an oportuntity to work with me one-on-one if you want more personalized support. If you are suffering from acute or untreated mental health disorder or if you have unresolved trauma and are not working with a mental health professonal then please let me know in our application so we can discuss options before you register.
+ Will I be able to call myself a trauma informed teacher after this training?
At the moment there is no certifying body that regulates trauma informed yoga. However, we will cover all aspects of trauma informed teaching in this program. If you follow the guidelines provided you will be able to confidently call your group yoga classes trauma informed.
+ Will I get a certificate at the end of the training?
In order to receive your certificate of completion you must:
- Attend a minium of 4 weekend immersions live and watch recordings of any classes you miss.
- Participate in all in class practicums. If you miss one you will need to submit a recording.
- Present a complete class to an instructor and two of your peers after the immersion weekends (details will be provided during the course).
- Attend atleast 2 of your peers' complete classes.
+ I want to teach underserviced and traumatized populations. Is this training right for me?
This training is perfect for anyone wanting to teach regular group classes to underserviced and traumatized populations. You will not be prepared to offer workshops or courses on yoga for mental health / trauma / anxiety etc. I recomend you take additional advanced training after this course if you want to work one-on-one with clients suffering from mental illness or trauma.

Yes, there is an option to pay by credit card.
+ If I pay now, can I cancel at a later date? What are the terms and conditions?
