I specialize in Yoga Therapy for Trauma Resolution including PTSD, Sexual Assault, Complex Trauma and Childhood Trauma.
I believe that trauma begins as a nervous system response to unresolved stressors. PTSD (and the accompanying symptoms), chronic anxiety, depression, grief, and often shame, are the mental and emotional IMPACTS of trauma. My approach combines nervous system resiliency for trauma, with the ancient Yoga philosophy that supports spiritual wellbeing. In order to heal trauma the nervous system has to be regulated before we can fully resolve mental/emotional distress. Yoga and the body-based practices I offer have the unique ability to do this! When the nervous system begins to be regulated it is much easier for clients to resolve mental/emotional effects of trauma. This can be done most effectively with a skilled mental health therapist in conjunction with the deeper teachings of yoga. Yoga also offers the unique capacity to support people’s spiritual wellbeing - regardless of their religion and faith.
The essence of yoga is a practice of becoming (or more accurately remembering) we are whole.

One-on-One Support (in-person or online)
Each Yoga Therapy session is unique based on your needs. One-on-one allows us to focus on the same practices that I teach in group classes and workshops but customized to your unique circumstance. Depending on your goals, we will spend time healing the deeper wounds surrounding your journey and talk about lifestyle choices that may help you grieve and regain vitality . You can read more about Yoga Therapy HERE. Most people who come for one-on-one sessions are looking for personalized care from someone who understands what they're going through and can provide individual support. Yoga Therapy for Anxiety & Trauma 7-class series
This 7-week series is suitable for anyone suffering from Anxiety and Trauma. The classes are 2 hours with 30-minute talk, 45-minute experiential practice, 15-minute guided relaxation, 15-minute wrap-up, reflections and Q&A.
The talks include information about the nervous system, breathing and the mind-body connection. They are designed to empower participants with knowledge about physiological experiences that occur under stress. My goal is also to normalize what participants are experiencing in their body.
The practice is quite different from a normal yoga class. Practices are carefully selected based on the individuals in the group, best practices for anxiety and trauma, and with modifications for structural limitations. Time is given during each practice to observe and build proprioceptive awareness. After each practice participants are encouraged to observe their energy, subtler physiological awareness, thoughts and emotions.
I’m very aware that being in a group and especially group sharing can be triggering for many so a lot of care is taken to make sure participants feel comfortable and safe in the space and class. I always meet on the phone before the class series to explain the class and provide information about what to expect and understand any concerns the participants might have.
